One of the best white sandy beaches in the Kansai region can be found less than an hour away by car from Kannabe. At Takeno Beach you can swim in the warm and blue waters of the Sea of Japan from June to August. Spend a day snorkeling, trying SUP, or just relaxing on the sandy beaches with a good book. Then head on up to the mountains for more fun.

For those looking for a more cultural and historical route we suggest going to Izushi, the old castle town known for its beautiful architecture, castle ruins and sara soba (plated buckwheat noodles). Travel down to Izushi, about 40 min by car for the morning and then up to Kinosaki Onsen. Kinosaki Onsen is a popular hot spring town renowned for its 7 bath houses and natural hot springs. A great atmosphere to be experienced during the day or night when you can see people dressed in yukata strolling through the streets. From Kinosaki to Kannabe it’s about a 40 minute drive.

To the east and west of Kannabe are two points of geological and scenic interest. About 120 minutes to the east by car is Amanohashidate, a land bridge that is also nicknamed “the bridge to heaven” and is known as one of the three most beautiful views in Japan. Then about 61 minutes to the west by car are the sand dunes of Tottori. Here you can walk and play on the sand dunes and visit the sand art museum.
