TRAIL CONDITION
Some sections are paved, while the unpaved parts will be grassy, uneven and dirt. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
TRAIL SEASON
Can be hiked from spring to fall. Reservations with a local business can be made to take a guided snowshoe hike on the trail during winter months.

Come hike to the mouth of one of Kansai Region’s youngest volcano. You can stroll up to the top from the parking lot of the roadside rest area “Kannabe Kougen” in about 20 to 30 minutes. There are guided tours available for a certain fee.
Enjoy the view over the crater and out onto the mountain ranges of Kannabe Highlands. When you go down the mountain see if you can find the “wind cave” and scoria layers on the side of the mountain.

Walk along the old lava flow formed from an explosion of the near by volcano long ago. The flow cut through the valley and is responsible for the various and beautiful waterfalls hidden along the trail.
There are more than 30 places of interest along the 7km or so hike. Best to bring good walking shoes with ankle support and good traction as part of the course will be slippery and over rough and uneven terrain. Guides can be hired to take you along the course and point out all the good scenic spots.
